Area Agency on Aging

The Milwaukee County Department on Aging is also the local Area Agency on Aging.

Federal funds provide assistance with home and community based services and programs that affirm the dignity of older adults by supporting their choices for living in and giving to our community. Through funds provided by the federal Older American's Act, the state of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County, we sponsor contracts with local service providers to operate a variety of programs including:

In addition, when older adults and their families need to make decisions about in-home care, counseling services are available to assist them. Our long-term care staff is able to conduct in-home assessments to determine need, provide information and services to meet those needs, develop appropriate care plans, and arrange for funding for services (when applicable).
